Position Summary Information
Position Description:
Oversee academic support services to student-athletes at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., primarily football student-athletes with the possibility of two additional smaller roster teams. Requires extensive collaboration with coaches, faculty members, campus support services and academic advisors to ensure student-athletes are in
NCAA
academic compliance. Responsibilities include identification of at-risk students, monitoring for academic progress and eligibility, referring to campus-wide academic services, developing academic intervention plans for students, teaching study skills course to at-risk student-athletes. Other duties include acting as an advocate for student-athletes, identifying academically successful students for recognition, conducting
NCAA
required exit interviews and completing
NCAA
required reports, meeting with athletic recruits and conducting academic orientation. Supervise graduate assistant. The Associate Director will work under the direction of the Director of Orientation and Student Success within the Division of Student Affairs and will be part of a team of academic support staff. Maintain an understanding of
NCAA
rules and regulations, especially those related to academics.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree
• 3 years professional experience in higher education
• Experience with academic support programs for student athletes
• Demonstrated ability to employ learning enhancement strategies with students
• Knowledge of
NCAA
academic rules and Academic Progress Rate
• Ability to collaborate with diverse populations and constituencies
• Strong communications skills (written, interpersonal, public)
• Proficient computer skills, especially spreadsheets
Preferred Qualifications:
• Teaching experience at the collegiate level
• Experience with Division I
NCAA
academic compliance
• Supervisory experience
