The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences invites applications and nominations for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Physical Education Teacher Education with an emphasis in Instructional Methods. This position will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Coaching and Teaching Studies.
Appointment: August 16, 2013 Nine-month appointment. Tenure-track. Rank will be commensurate with experience in the primary mission areas of teaching and scholarship. Summer teaching opportunities are available.
Responsibilities: Provide academic and professional leadership in the area of instructional methods for the physical education teacher education program. The ideal candidate will have college teaching experience, previous experience in the coordination/supervision of field experiences and/or student teaching. It is expected that the candidate will seek and obtain external funding to support programmatic and research initiatives.
The specific responsibilities for the position include:
1. Teaching classes in the distance education Masters Degree program and the undergraduate physical education teacher education program. A minimum teaching load of 6 credits each semester is required. Classes include instructional methods and coordination/supervision of student teachers or field experiences.

2. Writing, submitting, and receiving external grants to support program and research initiatives.

3. Advising undergraduate and graduate students.

4. Providing service to the profession and serving on appropriate University and College-wide committees.

5. Engaging in a consistent and focused line of research.
Professional Qualifications: An earned doctorate at the time of appointment with a specialization in physical education teacher education or a closely related area. Excellent written and oral communication skills and leadership skills are required. Preference will be given to applicants with evidence of the ability to obtain external funding; demonstrated ability in conducting and publishing high quality research; ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and the ability to coordinate/supervise student in field placements or during student teaching; preK-12th grade teaching experience, and experience with program evaluation and accreditation.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
