Profile

The Activity and Recreation Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and implementation of resort activities and recreation programs, operations, facilities, inventories, guest service, hiring, and training.
The Activity and Recreation Supervisor position has full-time hours (~40/wk) from March 1 – September 30 and part-time hours (
The Activity and Recreation Supervisor
shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Wild Dunes Resort Culture as well as promoting Wild Dunes Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!
Essential job FUNCTIONS:
Supervision of staff in all recreation outlets
Takes ownership of day and evening activities
Operation of all recreation outlets including, kids camp, crafts, activities, swimming pools, beach services, holiday events, and group events.
Particular expertise in children’s activity programming and creativity
Interviewing, background checks and decision making on staff
Training
Scheduling
Responsible for knowing all outlet procedures
Assisting in the design and implementation of recreation programs, activities, clubs and events
Assists in writing the Spring, Summer and Fall/Holiday vacation planners
Completes accurate accounting practices
Manages timekeeping and payroll
Ensure standard operating procedures are in practice
Cleanliness and maintenance of all outlets
Works closely with Island Adventure Outfitters, Reservations, and Guest Services
Ability to speak in front of large groups of people effectively
Works closely with meeting planners in coordinating group activities
Commitment to 100% guest satisfaction
Dependable, reliable, honest and punctual
High level of energy and enthusiasm
Attends appropriate resort, division and department meetings
Maintains a strong morale and spirit throughout recreation team
Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests of Wild Dunes Resort including use of guest name when possible & good eye contact with each guest
Resolves guest issues promptly and with great care and effectiveness
Communicates pertinent information to team, i.e. in-house VIPs, changes in policies and procedures, resort events, etc.
Up sells other resort services and amenities to guests
Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information
Always maintains a professional demeanor and attitude
Maintains constant awareness of safety issues. Reports all safety incidents appropriately.
Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment.
Maintains a professional appearance. Follows all Wild Dunes Resort dress code standards.
Associate is held accountable for all duties of this job.
Required Qualifications
eXPERIENCE & eDUCATION:
A bachelors degree in recreation management or similar field of study
preferred
5 years of child supervisory experience required
2 years of customer service experience preferred
1 year of supervisory experience required
Job REQUIReMENTS:
Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
Ability to work well with hands on physical tasks
Must be CPR and First Aid certified
Ability to demonstrate activities as needed including walking, running, climbing, jumping and swimming
Ability to work long hours many days in a row
Ability to work in an outside setting in the heat and humidity of summer
Ability to move from professional office setting to fun, recreational setting quickly and fluently
Above average written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills required
Must have a valid South Carolina drivers license and meet company driving standards
Must have excellent phone etiquette
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Must have strong computer skills
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
Must be highly detailed orientated
Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Must be able to work well under pressure
Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
Must possesses excellent communication skills
Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
Must have excellent listening skills
Must always ensure a teamwork environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates
Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests

Working CONDITIONS:
Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with periods of running
Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push & pull up to 75 lbs
Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally
Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces and sand frequently
Must be able to work outside in a variety of severe weather conditions (rain, wind, heat)
Must be able to climb stairs frequently, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat)
