JOB SUMMARY:
Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! This position is located at SEMPER FIT. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a SUPERVISORY RECREATION SPECIALIST (HITT / SPORTS PROGRAMS) for MCCS.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
DUTIES:
Serves as the High Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) Program Coordinator to provide the HITT Program Components to active duty and reservist service members aboard the base. Enhances force readiness by providing proper education and training on functional fitness, injury prevention, nutrition, proper execution of prescribed exercises and other related subjects for combat fitness. Formulates, organizes, prioritizes, and implements a structured curriculum that educates, provides a sense of achievement, aids in physical and mental health, and promotes performance to ensure the success of HITT and related combat fitness training programs.
Educates service members on proper fitness, nutrition, injury prevention, and proper execution of physical training that impacts readiness. Conducts program evaluations, consolidates data, provides reports and tracks trends to assess and improve program effectiveness. Maintains ongoing training and education to stay abreast of the most current subject matter information, tools and practices in the field of exercise science.
Plans and administers a segment of a sports program for a military community. Responsibilities include team sports programs and activities involving a variety of athletically related recurring and non-recurring activities such as special and intramural events, etc. Selects and emphasizes competitive sports activities to be offered, both within the required basic program categories and those additional ones possible through available resources and desirable in terms of participant's interests and needs. Schedules and publicizes various tournaments, and other sports events. Solicits volunteers and part-time paid service for activities. Evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing sports activities from the standpoint of participants’ response, resources, program objectives. Ensures playing surface is properly maintained, safe, and ready for play. Responsible for scheduling of courts, track, and fields, and regularly inspects for repairs, cleanliness, etc.
Responsible for the maintenance and control of MCCS Semper Fit recreation and athletic equipment available for temporary issue/rental to authorized personnel. Regular inventories of all property available for issue will be held on a regular periodic basis in conjunction with the Desktop Procedures or as directed by the Semper Fit Director. Incumbent will follow cash handling procedures established in conjunction with the RecTrac system when charging equipment user fees. Assists in assembling recreation and athletic equipment such as bikes, etc.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours. May travel to complete work assignments, and conduct or attend conferences and meetings. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
A Bachelor’s Degree in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or other related curricula focused on fitness assessment, or physiological adaptation to exercise and exercise program design, or a combination of core education credits, additional education and experience comparable to what would be acquired in a four year course of study in the appropriate field. Skill to serve as the HITT Program Coordinator to provide professional interactive instruction and education assistance to active duty and reserve service members aboard the base. Ability to instruct, demonstrate and perform the same physical training required of Marines. Skill to deal effectively with various contacts such as military members at various levels of authority and members of military institutions. Current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator certifications ( American Heart Association or Red Cross. No online certifications will be accepted). Current strength and conditioning certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Sports Performance Level 1 or Club Level 1 Coach Certification from the United States Weightlifting Association (USAW) along with certificate of completion or certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association: TSAC Department. Knowledge of an accredited association such as: American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association and other accredited associations to stay abreast of current practices and theories, network with SMEs and enhance the effectiveness and credibility of military programming. Knowledge and experience in administration of performance assessments and fitness assessments, exercise prescriptions, conducting progressive individual strength and conditioning programs, and proper exercise techniques sufficient to conduct comprehensive combat fitness programs. Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 60lbs independently and objects over 60lbs with assistance.
