DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This individual will perform professional and administrative functions in the Recreation Programs Section of the Recreation and Wellness Division. Assist the Division Manager with section operations, program development, supervision and training for Summer and Afterschool Enrichment, Teen and Senior Programs. Promote and enhance service delivery and trainings through grants and sponsors for nature and environmental programs including camping, archery, angler, and outdoor recreation events. Develop and promote cultural arts, dance, drama programs and performing troupes for all ages. Serve as a liaison to enhance program services through partnership collaborations and representing the department at meetings, marketing promotions and conferences. Assist with budget expenditures, database tracking and inventory control systems. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holiday as needed.
This position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy item, such as typewriter or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
An Associate's degree in Recreation, Education, Physical Education, Art or a related field is required
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of experience in recreation or education are required. Additional directly related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2). PREFERENCES
Preferences will be given to candidates with nature and environmental programs. CPR/First Aid certified.
