Under direction, develops and conducts outdoor recreation programs which support Park District efforts to increase public understanding and awareness of outdoor recreation opportunities, foster environmental stewardship, and the appreciation, enjoyment, and utilization of Park District facilities and resources
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under direction, develops and conducts outdoor recreation programs in the parks which increase awareness of outdoor recreation opportunities and Park District facilities, appeal to the interests of the public or scheduled groups being served, and promote environmentally responsible recreation.
Develops and delivers presentations oriented to a variety of audiences with consideration to age, learning styles, physical or mental disabilities, or attitudinal perspectives.
Contributes to planning and evaluating recreation programs with other staff and affiliated and cosponsoring agencies, adjusting delivery methods and content as needed.
In cooperation with the Recreation Program Supervisor, works with other program staff and Park District personnel to provide a selection of balanced District-wide recreation programs.
Contributes to the overall seasonal planning, evaluation, and promotion of public programs, participating in adjustments as needed.
Assists with preparation of effective displays and educational materials, focusing on appropriate outdoor recreation themes or topics for use in the park, as approved or directed by supervisor.
High School Diploma or GED plus at least one year of experience or related training. Bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation or related fields or education and experience equivalent to the degree preferred. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of current recreational trends, activities, and teaching techniques. Previous **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. experience preferred.

Three Rivers Park District was established in 1957 by the Minnesota State Legislature, nearly 60 years after the initial concept had been introduced to the Twin Cities. In 1901, William Folwell, president of the Minneapolis Board of Park Commisssioners, proposed the idea of parks in the outlying areas of Hennepin County. Theodore Wirth championed this plan for an expanded park system during his tenure as Superintendent of Minneapolis Parks from 1906 to 1935
