The Department of Recreation Services at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking to hire an Assistant Director Recreation Facilities to supervise daily operations of Archbold/Flanagan Gymnasiums and the Women’s Building including staffing, maintenance and risk management. Variable work schedule. Evenings and weekends required. Primary work schedule 6am-3pm.
Construction is now well underway on the Barnes Center at The Arch, a new health and wellness complex that will open in fall 2019. The new complex will provide students, faculty and staff a brand new space to improve their health and engage with a myriad of wellness resources as they balance the rigors of academic life and the pursuit of personal success.
The state-of-the-art complex at the transformed Archbold Gymnasium is designed as a vibrant hub for student services that will provide holistic support with comprehensive medical care, wellness resources and mental health support. The fully accessible complex will bring together the Counseling Center, the Office of Health Promotion, Health Services, Recreation Services and the Office of Student Assistance in one central location, helping to ensure a seamless approach to coordinating student services and promoting collaboration among student offices.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management, Education or a related field
• Minimum of three years full-time professional experience in higher education recreation facility administration.
• Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of constituents are desired.
Job Specific Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years experience working in large multi site recreation facilities.
• Minimum 3 years experience developing and supervising student employees.
• Experience with managing the operations of multiple facilities
• 1st Aid/

Responsibilities
• Supervise daily operations of Archbold/Flanagan and Women’s Building, including facility entry, equipment check-out, and facility set-ups. Resolve patron facility use issues. Interact with facility users. Enforce policies and procedures relating to facility operations and use. Responsible for implementing risk management and customer service plans for Archbold/Flanagan and the Women’s building. Coordinate Emergency Action Plans while on duty. Coordinate maintenance activities while on duty. Assist reservation groups with entrance, set-up and utilization of facilities.
• Hire, train, supervise, develop and evaluate one full time coordinator and 50 student employees working in
the Facilities area. Create and manage student employee work schedules. Create, encourage and support
professional development opportunties for student staff. Ensure appropriate staff coverage of facilities during
all operating hours.
• Perform payroll functions for student employees accurately and on time. Temporary wages in excess of $100,000 utilizing department and University payroll systems. Oversee purchase, inventory and management of equipment check out equipment.
• Manage locker rentals, guest pass sales, alumni pass sales, and program registrations until Arch renovation project complete.
• Manage all functions of the laundry service including purchase and inventory of hand and bath towels and laundry detergent and maintenance and use of washing machines and dryers within a budget of $10,000.
• Assess and implement approved operations policies and procedures.
