This position is for a substitute instructor to serve on an as-needed basis.
Instructional activities: Attend fall orientation meetings and/or area specific trainings. Prepare and deliver class content; implement the teaching progressions, strategies, techniques, and safety measures outlined by the course calendar; administer assignments and/or tests; follow the course syllabus; keep accurate attendance and performance records; ensure physical participation and help guide improvement through practice. Implement risk management and safety procedures in the classroom. Respond to department communications. Understand and follow department and university policies that apply to the teaching contract.
Service: PE substitute instructors will be made aware of optional opportunities to serve within the department and across the University and are participated in at the discretion of each instructor.
Reporting relationship: The substitute instructor reports directly to an Assistant Director, who reports to the Associate Director for Physical Education.Major Duties:
a) Course load: [tbd – scheduled on a as-need basis]
b) Professional development related to teaching, research and service – [Instructors are expected to keep current in their area of specialty through workshops, conferences, training, networking, and/or reading.]
c) Student contact and communication – [instructors are to make themselves available to students before and after class where possible, in person, via email and/or phone. Space will be made available for student conference upon request.
One year of experience, expertise and/or certification in the instructor's focus area
CPR and First Aid certification
A bachelor's degree
