Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
Under limited supervision, provides campus wide activity programing for students and serve as support for Coordinator of Residence Life. Perform other duties as assigned.
Individual reports to the Dean of Student and Academic Support Services. This position is a position required to live in an apartment in the residence hall.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
This individual will plan, advertise, recruit, and execute student activities for State Fair Community College, including the college's extended campuses. This individual is expected to execute a full year of student activities – including intramurals, and work with other departments on campus to provide a robust student engagement atmosphere. The position requires supervision and training of the Campus Activities Board – students who help lead student activities.
In addition this position will provide support for the Residence Hall. This support will require on-call hours on some nights and weekends and limited judicial responsibilities.
The Coordinator of Student Activities will serve as advisor to the Student Government Association – supervising meetings, coordinating elections, conducting leadership development, and serving as a liaison to the Dean of Student and Academic Support Services concerning SGA business and initiatives. This will include building relationships and communication with student organization leadership and advisors.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements
Administrative and management procedures to include: selecting, training, and supervising staff, and organizing student activities. Working with students, providing informal counseling, managing files and records, and providing customer service.
Prioritize and handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Communicate effectively by telephone, written form, e-mail, or in person. Actively look for ways to help others as well as effectively manage one's own time and the time of others. Able to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion. Using computers to set up functions, enter data and record and maintain information in written or electronic form. Work independently.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, event planning, student services or related field is required for this position. Enrollment in, or completion of a master's program in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience in residence halls, activity programming, student leadership, etc. strongly preferred.
Previous higher education experience preferred.
PHYSICAL TASKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS –Work involves light to moderate physical work. There is frequent standing, stooping and lifting required. There is an occasional need to lift objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
