The Program Manager is responsible for driving program execution while ensuring that the program\/project activities meet internal and external customer requirements and follows S&N\u2019s Phase Review Discipline Process, including progress reporting and reviews by senior leadership. The Program Manager is fully responsible and accountable for the programs they manage from Development through Launch. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Lead efforts to transition programs from charter through commercialization Form and lead cross-functional new product development team in executing project objectives according to a written, approved performance agreement (Development review thru Market Launch) Work with partner groups to gain alignment & support to achieve project objectives Ensure projects are executed in compliance with regulatory requirements and Phase Review Discipline requirements Transfer product & manufacturing processes from to operations & marketing organizations at launch of project Capture & disseminate knowledge acquired during projects to improve S&N product development processes & systems Participate as a senior manager to improve environment & business systems of S&N Ensure that domestic & global market strategy, assumptions, business opportunities are measured & periodically reviewed throughout duration of project execution & initial product launch Lead cross-functional team in executing new product development performance agreement Develop comprehensive project plans Establish & assign team roles & responsibilities Provide direct and regular communication to senior management on progress, opportunities & issues Obtain resources from functional organizations, support groups & outside sources to ensure project success Continuously re-evaluate project to determine validity of concept assumptions Foster teamwork within team & between team & other groups Provide career development guidance Provide individual performance appraisals & compensation recommendations to management SCOPE OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: For funds, Costs or Profits: Authorized for approval of expenditures at the Manager level, as outlined by corporate policies. For Supervision: Leading one or multiple focused, cross-functional teams to execute new product acquisition or development projects in accordance with criteria specified in performance agreement between the team & marketing. The scope of the team\u2019s responsibility encompasses market & business analysis, product design or acquisition, manufacturing process design, market evaluation & market product launch. Meeting contract requirements that include: time to market, cost of goods, development costs, quality standards. Well rounded experience and understanding of all functions, including their interrelation and interdependencies. The Group has a history dating back 160 years to the family enterprise of Thomas James Smith who opened a small pharmacy in Hull, England in 1856. On his death in 1896, his nephew Horatio Nelson Smith took over the management of the business.A few days after the declaration of World War 1 in 1914, Horatio Nelson Smith (the nephew of the company founder T. J Smith) met with an envoy of the French President in London. The company was awarded a contract to supply £350,000 of surgical and field dressings, to be delivered in five months. By the late 1990s, Smith & Nephew had expanded into being a diverse healthcare conglomerate with operations across the globe, including various medical devices, personal care products and traditional and pioneering woundcare treatments. In 1998, Smith & Nephew announced a major restructuring to focus management attention and investment on three business units — wound management, endoscopy and orthopaedics— which offered high growth and margin opportunities.
