Smith and Nephew seeks a R&D Sr. Manager, Sports Med Digital Projects to lead the product development for the portfolio of products in arthroscopic tower integration and data management programs. The R&D Sr. Manager will bring clear sense of urgency and demonstrated track record of driving innovation leading to the introduction of new technologies in the marketplace. This R & D leader will be charged with oversight of the vendor teams responsible for the development of Digital portfolio. This role will lead R&D activities and work with cross-functional partners. This role will be fully empowered and accountable for the day-to-day execution of the tasks required to drive completion of all projects on time and within budget. The R&D Sr. Manager, Sports Med Digital Projects reports to the Sr. Director of Sports Med R&D and position will be based in Andover, MA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To work closely with Marketing, and R&D leadership on the strategic direction of the Sports Med Digital portfolio Ensure projects are executed well to commitments & achieve market success. Responsible for budget and resource allocation. Foster high performance culture. To be strong technical leader of the Digital Technologies: to keep current on the technology, best R&D practices, competitors, and current trends in the Digital Health market place.
REQUIREMENTS Travel- 5-10% Domestically & Internationally Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering or equivalent; Graduate degree highly preferred Experience Excellent track record in product development of regulated software/digital health projects. A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in development and/or manufacturing of complex products preferred. A good understanding of design control and/or development of products in a regulated medical device industry preferred. Track record of successfully bringing products from concept to market on schedule & within budget is preferred. Competencies Persistent, determined, self-motivated, keen to make an impact Strong People Development skills are required. Strong Project Management skills are required. The Group has a history dating back 160 years to the family enterprise of Thomas James Smith who opened a small pharmacy in Hull, England in 1856.
