Position Summary:
The Columbia Public School District is seeking a Head Boys’ Soccer Coach for Rock Bridge High School
. Teaching position to accompany this responsibility is yet to be determined.
Qualifications:
Certification: Missouri teaching certificate or Missouri substitute teaching certificate; Sport First Aid Course required
Experience: Prior teaching/coaching experience preferred
Other: If hired as a coach via a substitute certificate, the individual must satisfactorily complete (make a grade of 80% to pass) a MSHSAA approved coaches education program (NFICEP) before he/she can be hired for a coaching position in any subsequent year. In addition, all coaches despite certification status must attend a NFICEP first-aid class and pass the exit test given at that time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Head Soccer Coach is responsible for:
Maintaining the soccer program at HIckman High School.
Supervising assistant soccer coaches at HIckman High School.
Maintaining positive communication with patrons and parents of athletes and potential athletes.
Coordinating off-season camps and conditioning programs.
Encouraging good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport.
Collaborating with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to HIckman High School athletes.
Ensuring compliance with MSHAA.
Maintaining statistics on all players.
Understanding and adhering to Board policies and procedures
Performing other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
: An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
Language
Read, analyze and interpret professional journals, Board policy, administrative procedures and forms and governmental regulations and guidance
Complete forms and write reports
Present information effectively and respond to questions
Computation
Perform basic mathematical functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
Reasoning
Solve a variety of problems in many different situations
Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students
Other Skills and Abilities
Identify needs and abilities of individual students and to adapt instructional methods accordingly
Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, administrators, and parents
Perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Technology
Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use
Use district software for finding student information
Utilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously

Attendance
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
This position requires frequent evening and/or weekend work related to practice and competition
Must be able to travel during evenings and/or weekends to accompany students to games and meets.
Sensory Requirements:
The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking.

The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. The individual will be required to work outdoors.
