This is acontinuous recruitment for an applicant poolto fill part-time/seasonalSenior Recreation Assistantvacancies on an as needed basis. The City will refer to the poolof part-time applications on file, as needed, to fillvacancies.Applicants who meet the minimum requirements of the position will remain in the pool for 12 months.
Under general supervision, performs a variety of activities related to the organization, direction, maintenance, and supervision of a recreational program, including general, therapeutic, aquatic and senior recreational programs; and performs related duties as assigned.

Senior Recreation Assistant positions are available in facilities throughout the City of Henderson. Work locations and assignments are subject to change based on program needs.
Must be the age of 17 or older at the time of hire or promotion.
Desirable: Six (6) months of experience, preferably working in recreation programs for a municipal or public agency; or, a combination of education, work and/or volunteer experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. Example: Volunteer work or community service hours earned while attending school.
May be required to possess and maintain a valid Nevada or border state driver's license, as defined by NRS 483.
May require the possession of, or the ability to obtain, an American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR certifications within the first three (3) months of employment.
May be required to obtain a Food Handler Safety Training card issued by the Southern Nevada Health District and/or ServSafe Food Handler Program within the first three (3) months of employment.
Desirable: High School diploma or equivalent.
Desirable: Experience working in recreation programs and facilities performing facilities service functions.
Desirable: Experience in playing or officiating sports.
Desirable: Experience working or volunteering with seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Desirable: Experience setting up, monitoring, and adjusting the functioning of audio/visual equipment used by clients and running sound boards for concerts.
